Tank name

Post by Ragnar »

K, soo I’m here in the states and wish to give my Tiger 1 a name’ should it be in German or English?
I’m leaning towards The latter. ‘Eisenfaust’
But it’s a dry heat!

Be careful with naming your Tiger because you may discover after the event that the particular number carried by your Tank actually did have a name given to it by the crew,
A little research could solve the problem for you.
German Tanks with the exception of the "Aces" did not last long so that giving them names was not as common as the American Army,
Early WW2 British Army Tanks often were named by their crews but the crews in the opening stages of the war were pre-eminently professionals and pride in the Tank, The Squadron and the Regiment within the RTR was something to be displayed,
With the advent of conscription that attitude died.
Soviet Tanks mostly when given any inscription would have a patriotic flavour which had more to do with the Political Commisar in the Regiment than the wishes of the Tank crew.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
