Total newbie, advice please

Hi,
As the title suggests I am a total newcomer to this hobby.

I have browsed this forum for a while and now know enough to avoid nitrotek.

I'm after a RTR, tank, would prefer a pzkw iv, but saw this on offer.

https://www.rctank.de/360-24-GHz-Panthe ... tle-system

I have,I think, little use for the ir system as the opportunity to battle would be highly unlikely.

I believe rctanks.de are highly regarded here but would welcome any comments or suggestions.

Many thanks

Elephant

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You say you have little use for IR, are you liking the idea of a BB gun? If not, having a tank set for IR is not a bad thing, you get barrel recoil and a flash at the end of the barrel, a lot of people have IR ready tanks just for this feature.

Anyway, check these out, they're nearer to what you wanted, and are from another very reputable seller who happens to be a forum member.

Thanks for the replies,

I've seen the forgebear site and again, they seem highly recommended here.

I would prefer the pzkw iv but wouldn't the metal features of the panther seem to give it an advantage maybe?

However £250 seems a good price if I can find it.
€300 = roughly £260

Hello,
Actually,I would also take the IR combat système  to have a différent recoil gun and more realistic!!!than the ball shooting système that is not top. :(

Assuming you are uk based, you may want to buy from the UK (Forgebear) simply to avoid any upcoming duties! (Damn the B word) I too can recommend Forgebear. They are more than just another shop!

As suggested above, the sight of a recoiling barrel with a bright flash is worth going the IR route. You'll soon get tired of riddling a target with 6mm holes!

Go for the latest version of MFU you can find as each is an improvement over the former. Not all models carry the latest versions. Beyond that, take your pick - but not another Tiger!! :)

The British pound is not in a good state against the euro. Not very long ago, 300 euros would have been £250.

Yeah, it's about 290 euro now.

Mind you, about eight years or so ago it was almost dead on one to one.

I guess that's another good reason from buying from the UK though the actual number of pounds the retailer wants plus carriage is the bottom line. I was beginning to think about import duty payable when purchased outside the UK. Buying from the Far East often doesn't attract duty - China etc make an effort to play the true cost down but Japan, U.S. use customs labels that means you normally get caught. I wonder how Europe will treat us? Maybe we could start manufacturing RC kits in the empty Nissan and Land Rover factories?

BTW, have you seen the top spec Torro Panzer IV special edition that Forgebear has in stock?

Yes I am UK based and one of the main reasons i don't want a tiger is because, well just that,
"not another tiger". I'm sure they're very worthy etc, but!

I would prefer to buy UK though have stuff from all over and not had any problems, but then nothing went faulty.

I've had tentative contact with forgebear and they did seem pleasant and helpful.

Any other recommendations re suppliers I may have missed. Also, somewhat cheekily, anyone had any joy with offers? Outside of eBay of course.

I'm not wed to a BB or IR system and i take on board all the comments made.

Oh! And yes! Seen the winter camp pzkw iv forgebear has.

Looks the business in it's winter camo, just a tad out of my price range.
