I have just acquired a 2.4 Heng long Sherman but the instruction manual supplied is for the 27mhz version. I can't work out how to fire bbs as there is not a switch in the loading hatch. Can anyone help?

If it's the newer version 2.4, all you have to do is hold the left stick up and either top switch at the same time. You should then hear the BB unit winding up and see the red light on the front of the turret come on.

You're right, there is no safety switch like the older ones had. The new way avoids trying to fire and realizing you forgot to turn the switch on! :{

If you have the M4A3 105MM Then the on/off safety switch for this version is under the loading hatch, adjacent to the commander's cupola. Has someone relocated the switch?
On some later models the volume control pan pot has been removed, and so has the smoker on/of switch.Their functions have been transferred to the quartet of buttons on the Transmitter. But i think the BB safety switch should still be there, even if the 'K" button for cannon is present on the transmitter. There should have been an addendum sheet for the 2.4 G variant included with your manual. I may scan mine, and post it here if you'd like..
'BB" shoot should be available on the left stick in the direct forward position, as well as 45 deg either side of forward.

That photo is exactly like mine. I have just tried it and it works. Thank you all for your help.

Ahhh..I didn't realise that you had the 5.3 version of the Sherman with dual sounds. It's often helpful to be as specific as you can about the model the query relates to. The addition of 'latest model' would have helped. I assumed it must be a model one up from the Crystal version you'd acquired secondhand, and had confused the commander's cupola for the loader's hatch, or, someone had tinkered with it.
The 105MM version I described does have the so-called safety switch underneath the loader's hatch, along with the v3/4 Transmitter. That's the one I have. In this instance, since yours has the latest electronics, I'd rather have yours than mine :D
Although, in fact, I bought it as an organ donor for a Firefly project..

One should never assume ;) one should always read all that the writer writes, then assume :P :haha:
I did...and being non the wiser on a re-read, made the same assumption about Lct's 'entry level' state of knowledge. :D I presumed to assume :{ .
Nonetheless, what I wrote about being specific stands. Too often queries become 'guess whose house this is', or, 'what's my line' (for oldies :haha: ) type of guessing games. Glad you got the ball rolling...well, firing, at least. :lolno:

Well, you might not be any the wiser if even if you happened to have the correct manual. :haha: Here's a choice piece for those unfortunates with IR battle function:
"...When the fifthly times was shot, the tank will forward and sloshing around about 3 seconds, all action to stop..." and for those firing BBs:
" ..Influenced by the system, the shot out BB bullet will forcefully spin back while running forward at high speed, generating climbing.."
Curiously, the annoying predictive text feature didn't attempt to correct any of this guff.. :lolno: :D
Enjoy.

An interesting and informative thread, but reminds me once again (heresy on heresy) why I am so fond of static models!
:haha: :shh:

I am glad to stimulate discussion although I did state 2.4 ghz in the title. I also have a 27mhz Sherman so recognise the information on it as spot on for the type.

Even then there are two 2.4 ghz versions. Generation 3 which has the safety switch, a different firing mechanic and only one (horrible) sound bank, generation 4, which you have, which has two sound banks.
