Re: What Taigen GB can be fitted to the HL Sherman?
Hi Carl,
That's my question, they appear to be drilled for the "same" mounting as the HL but having no experience with the Taigen GBs I thought to ask.
All the listing I have found say they with fit the Sherman "metal edition". Do you know if they are drilled the same as the HL GBs?
Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry for what it's worth I've used both Mato metal gearboxes, Heng Long/Taigen gearboxes interchangeably without issue. I've only had to adjust the hole sizes and or grind the metal bases to fit. For someone inexperienced it maybe a daunting task but for someone like you it will be very easy.BarryC wrote:Hi Carl,

Have you thought about the Taigen 3 to 1 Gearbox ?
Bearings on all gears suitable for the Heng Long M4 Sherman,
Gearbox number TG 1200-S priced at approximately £55.
Shaun.

I think I am about to upset someone

Thanks for the replies guys!
I am not concerned about adapting them as I believe I could handle that.
I have positioned my GBs further forward than the original mount so that the tracks push out beyond the transmission housing like the 1:1 does.
I created a separate GB mounting plate to allow me to do that. So the closer they are to the HL mounting locations the better for me.

Barry that's a great looking motor mount plate.... I can see many people on the forum looking for such a plate to purchase Have you made any progress on the gearboxes so far?BarryC wrote:Thanks for the replies guys!

Re: What Taigen GB can be fitted to the HL Sherman?
Hi Carl,
I have sent a query to Taigen Tanks USA down in FL. They are an authorized Taigen dealer here in the US and just down the road in Tampa. However it may be a day or two before I hear bad due to the affects on the hurricane that has finally moved on.
It "appears" the the Taigen V2 is a one to one replacement but just wanting to confirm before ordering. I would really like to use a Mid-Low motor configuration as opposed to the High -Low that is called for in the Sherman. They also have the correct style drive sprockets I need for the Firefly I'm building. Two birds with one stone so to speak!
Thanks,
Barry
