Newbie here.
I went to the local HobbyTown USA last week looking for the 2-pin plugs.
The rc guys didn't have any but in the model train section they had a 2-pack of 24" extension cords made by Woodland Scenics that got the bill. This gave me 4 connectors I could use.
The line is called "Just Plug".
Where to find HL connectors?

I don't think I've ever seen jst kits at a local hobby shop, which is why I get mine online. Like I said, check out Amazon. They have a really good variety and the prices aren't too bad. Just do a search for jst kit.
