DAK 88mm a/t gun.

Post by jarndice »

Shortly I shall be receiving after much anticipation my 88mm a/t gun from Catharine and Will
I will be painting it in the desert colours of the DAK but I have no idea what markings the guns and their carriage had applied to them,
There is a paucity of information on the web that I can find,
If you know of a reliable source I would be grateful
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Possibly a daft suggestion, but have you tried Will or Catherine? They must have done some research on the gun.

I have found a Unit that operated the 88mm Flak/AT in North Africa,
1/Flak Regiment 18
1941/42 Sollum, Tobruk, El Alamein under 19 Flak Division (Stab/Flak Regiment 135)
Unit destroyed at Tunis 1943.
Now to find the markings :haha:

Only just come across this thread
We do have some paint ideas, although i must admit we normally just stand back and await to see what our customers are going to paint them like. As with all models it is the paint that really finishes it off, painting colours and themes, camouflage techniques and weathering are all very personal and technical.
We can forward some suggestions if needs be from our research that was conducted however.

For our own collection we are going to have one in the usual grey, although i really do fancy painting one up like it has served on the Eastern front with a winter camo wash

"[W]e normally just stand back and await to see what our customers are going to paint them like." Uh-oh! I am behind by one quarter ton 4X4, one generator and light, and one Gulaschkanone. :problem:
