Taigen parts required for Tiger 1 recoil unit

Post by davejay »

Hi all,
I ordered a recoil unit for my HL Tiger 1 but it didn't come with the two parts that attach to the mantlet. The parts are designated as BB6 & BB7 by Taigen.

Does anybody know where I can get these pieces so that I can get my recoil unit fitted and get the BB unit out!??

If anybody has some obviously I'm willing to purchase them!

Cheers, Dave

I just put one of those in my Stug III Ausf A conversion, and I had the same problem. The mounting trunions are rare as hen's teeth. Did you order the unit thas already has the Tiger 1 mantlet with it, or is it just the universal one? Taigen has the unit with the mounting trunions and flash unit included listed on their web site, but it has been out of stock for several months now.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I don't know what parts might be available, but perhaps Ian might have them? He's been great on some of these things in the past for me, so who knows?

Or perhaps these guys. I purchased great quality parts from them in the past, so maybe they can help you?

I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not sure..

Those two parts should have come with the recoil unit. If you check the Taigentanks website, you'll see the wee white pivot flanges (trunnions) illustrated as part of the deal. Here:

Good luck.

You didn't say where you'd ordered the parts from. All the sites I've just checked seem to include the bits that are absent from your purchase. Rctank's parts section shows a bag of fittings with the recoil unit, just as one example. https://www.rctank.de/Tiger-I-gun-actio ... gun-holder
I'm sure this is the norm. It would be worth taking the missing bits issue up with your vendor.

Hi, I got the unit from Welsh Dragon Models. Wasn't sure if they came with unit or not, just my luck to get the one with bits missing!!!
Hey ho, I'll probably not use it now as I might upgrade to a clark board and servo recoil!! Might need to sell it on me thinks!!

Steve at Welsh Dragon is a member here, and a certified 'good guy' amongst vendors. I note that he sells two flavours of recoil for the Tiger 1. One comes without mantlet (and therefore the white pivots/trunnions).
The other includes the mantlet- here:

It would be worth phoning him to see whether he'll supply the parts you need. There's a good chance he will.

Thanks for that. I got the one without the manlet as I had just obtained a metal turret/barrel/mantlet from evilbay and a taigen upper hull.

Just one of those things I guess especially when you're new to rd tanks and upgrading as well.

My Tiger 1 is almost done except for fitting a clark board, servo recoil and flash.

Saving up now for a 1/6 Chally!!!!!
