Re: Panzer III for su76 build
Sounds like an interesting project Other than having six wheels, and three return rollers (each side), how close is the Pz 3 chassis (dimensionally) to the SU-76, I wonder? Looks promising, though.

Re: Panzer III for su76 build
Ah you mean the su76m on the face of its they look closer to the size of a t34 rather than a panzer III. Though this is not the variant I am building. What I have is the su76i as far as I can tell which mounts onto a panzer. The kit is available or at least was a few weeks ago from Dave. Build wise it looks quite an easy one to do once you have taken off the mould excess it look like it would glue straight on to the panzer top, you could possibly keep the turret hole but I think I’m going to cut it out to allow better access when it comes to fitting the gun workings

Re: Panzer III for su76 build
The "i" suffix in SU-76i means "inostrannaya" or "foreign". It is built on a captured Panzer III chassis. The SU-76M is a native built Soviet vehicle.
From Wikipedia: For example, after the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943, several hundred German Panzer III tanks and similar StuG III assault guns/tank destroyers were captured. So many were available that a significant effort was made to repair and re-use them. More than 100 were rebuilt as the SU-76i self-propelled gun, with some even serving as Soviet SG-122 self-propelled howitzer vehicle prototypes.
I remember someone fairly recently scratch built an SG-122.

What an awesome project - a great parts special!
Why not start with a Taigen metal lower hull from Forgebear? Might not be as cheap as a PzIII discard.
And add an upper hull for a Heng Long Tauchpanzer?

self-propelled gun, the Russians reused many tanks captured at Stalingrad, Panzer III, IV, Sturmgeschutz III in the rearrangement with their own guns (KV 1), they made their debut at the battle of Kursk. Some were even taken back by their owners original
