Sorry to get off track like that, Herman. So for Pete's sake, Man, what's the project? Don't be a tease. :haha:

I'm pretty sure Wayne is the registered rctw tease, anyway. @) @) @)

It's like car body filler, I have a version that sticks to wood, metal, and most things, I mix it on a Pringles nylon lid, or similar nylon lid, when the unused mix goes off I bend the lid and it falls off, but when the lid gets a bit scratched, very thin smears stay attached.

This is the stuff.

Actually we didn't, we are conducting useful nylon coating thoughts and knowledge, especially if Herman does choose a nylon figure ;)

I primed mine using Halfords Grey Plastic Primer. The designer recommended white carpenters gue, which I assumed to be PVA, so i guess a thin wash of PVA would smooth and seal them. I have not had any problem with paint coming off, but they have not had any rough treatment.

Yes, it is PVA they recommend, schools have been using it for years, but they usually mix a little into the school type water paints for painting plastic bottles, otherwise the water paints won't adhere properly. I've done this helping my daughter's and grandson with school projects.

It should help improve adhesion, but it doesn't like over handling.

When using PVA as a coating on its own, one has to be careful when applying another coat of anything water based, because when PVA gets wet, it re-emulsifies, in other words is goes liquid again, or tries too. Just like wallpaper paste when removing old wallpaper.
Also I have used PVA making paper mache and card models, and water based paints don't like sticking to it so much.

That being said, I've only used the art pre mixed watercolours in the bottles on it.

Because of that, I won't employ builders/plasterer/tilers that overly use it, it's a WOOD glue. That works well on paper.

All great advice lads. I will need these civilian figures and though it won’t likely be me painting them, any info on the material prep is useful.
