Jagdpanzer IV

Post by SimonCornes »

Hi,
Does anyone happen to have a spare a set of the Tamiya zimmerit coating stickers? I was hoping I might buy a set from the likes of Axel but he doesn't list the zimmerit as a spare. If its going to cost a fortune then my Plan B is polyfilla !!

Thanks for that John. Well I suppose there’ll be loads of it about at next to no price if it’s not very good! (Maybe not!!) I must say that the finished SPG looks pretty good though, even if it isn’t the greatest. I suppose getting depth into effectively a film isn’t ever going to be easy but I wonder if the use of dark paint washes might help it to look deeper?

Think I’d be spending the £50 to be honest

Prior to it becoming available as a commercial product the usual way Zimmerit was applied was slapping on Milliput and then using different kitchen utensils to mark it then allowing it to dry.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I got these Zimmerit stamp dies from Hagen Miniatures in Germany. If you're happy to roll some sheets of Milliput out (bit like rolling pastry ;) ) they can produce some great effects.

They were fairly cheap- but the postage could be stratospheric these days- unless you go through eBay, I think. Have alook there.
