I previously wrote a post called FRAG: Business Buildings in Village.
It can be found at: http://www.rctankregiment.com/rctankfor ... ffb7bcbe4a
That post described pictures of the right hand building with tower and mentioned there was a left hand building that was just about completed. Both of these buildings set at an intersection where the main road enters town from the southwest. The towers are a throw back to the time of castles and Norman invaders, which is appropriate for our Normandy 1944 theme.
Here are the pictures of the left hand building which is all but finished, needing only the slate roof material added and a couple chimneys. Once our local supplier gets the slate roof sheets in, then both buildings will be done.
These are made of ½” plywood, painted with a sand textured paint, with duplicate window frames and mullions cast in resin, and accent wood strips made from bass wood. The tower is a 6” PVC pipe, covered in plastic brick sheet and the pointed roof is made of 12 identical triangle pieces of styrene, glued together to get the desired shape. Over this was glued heavy duty aluminum foil, painted and then weathered with chalks. The brick detail is from 1” scale dollhouse bricks, smashed, cut and weathered to show damage.
I decided this tower would have some war damage, and when it is placed on site at the battlefield, there will be bits of wood and brick lying on the street below to replicate the debris. As you look thru these pictures, check out the soldiers……there are 5 of them………..do you see them all? The main business for this structure is “OUTILS et MATÉRIAL”. Anyone care to translate? And there is a doctor’s office, which sends patients to the Pharmacie in the right hand building if a prescription needs filled….
I have included some of the “under construction” pictures at the end to give those of you who have interest, a chance to see how this one and the right hand building was built. Enjoy………. PP
