Large Bunker

Post by Marco Peter »

Using packagig materials, I build this (fantasy) bunker, but 'inspired' by real ones of course! :-)

Image
I used tootpicks and sate-pegs to keep the parts together while building, shaping and glueing.

Oke, it's not THAT big... ;-)

Image
Used some sort of acrylic hobby paint to paint it.

Image
I liked the idea of having stairs on the back, to use the roof for defensive purposes.

Added some minor details and started giving it some more 'shape' using the airbrush. Let's call it a crude 'pre-shading' haha!

Image
Added some more details and some fake wiring around the top.

And a side door!

Really nice! (and to previous poster) I found similar material in with a printer cartridge; looked very much like a pillbox.

I was thinking of skimming it in Polyfilla or using flexible acrylic caulk but just the paintjob on yours is more than good enough! I've been reading up on this sort of defence and a lot of them were camouflaged either by painting or nets/foliage so there are more options.

Very very nice job. And also the tower. I was beginning to design one, could you share some photos or tips?

Ah that's a nice story... I wanted a guard tower but none of the images on the web matched the image in my head, so I simply started building using Balsa-wood, this is what it turned out to be! I will upload some more detailed pictures! :-)

Made some simple plastic doors, covered them with red primer color and some panzer grau for shading. Used the hairspray technique after that. I liked Russian Green as color for the doors.

That looks really good, nice work.
I just got a pillbox in my RC playground i am making, but mine is concrete haha. Unfortunately i will have to paint the cutout for the pillbox, as i can't break the concrete to make a hold.
We just had a plastic bucket and alot of left over concrete from another job. Left it a while then up turned bucket and round concrete pillbox. It is only cause my RC playground is staying outside all year round.

I have to say i think i will have a go at making a broken pillbox using your technique for some cool diorama ;)
The door just looks superb.

Need to see some more pics of your guard tower. I too had the same issue, although i got my inspiration from some old PC WW2 games like COD & Medal of Honour etc

Will01Capri, it turns out nobody in the world has a more 'concrete' concrete scale bunker than you! :D
