Too much more of that and your local council will be around to demand you get a building permit !!
The stone effect is superb Sir, really sets it off.

Ive got images in my head of putting a couple of shots through it with a .22 rifle to get scale shell hits, but its just too nice !!!

Many thanks Herman.
I can assure you that I have a building permit for the barn. The authority for the permit was my wife... :lolno:

Theme for today is the outdoor lighting of the barn. I wanted a simply lighting, a kind of railway station lighting. In our scale difficult to find I decided me to build my own. As first I’ve chosen suitable LED’s. The LED’s have a diameter of 10 mm, so can the lighting body as glass dome remain the same.

Image

The counterpart for the glass dome is the housing for the lamp; I’ve made two pieces from PVC on my lathe.

Image

The corresponding lampshades arises from sheets of brass; cut, bent and soldered.

Image

A first fitting for the parts, view from inside…

Image

…and from outside.

Image

Thereafter were the holder for the lamp from brass pipes made, both base plates arise from copper sheet.

Image

As finish was a transverse strut soldered…

Image

…thereafter follows cabling, painting and of course the mounting.

Image

Each mounted beside the doors; here is enough space to open the gates.

Image

Inside was built a current distributor, as power source I’ve used an old battery from my tanks. Then follows a test, once in the bright...

Image

…and also once in the darkness. On an additional night ride at our battle field will this be helpful for the orientation.

Image

Currently I think about a possible interior lighting…

Image

The lighting is switched on behind the door from my annex.

So much for today.

That is simply amazing. That scratchbuilt light has given me all kinds of ideas for future use. I can't wait to see the interior lighting. If your barn has a small office or other room for humans that need heat you could put in a pot bellied stove and use a smoke unit to make smoke come from the stove pipe. That's one of the features I plan to use in my guard shack, if I ever get around to building it.

Again, really great work and I'm looking forward to more.

Although we admire your work abilities, along with the time and effort you have put into your dwelling, we can not find any evidence of a planning application from you.
And your new build is not in keeping with our modern construction techniques, for one, there is no concrete or glass in the entire build.

Also, I must point out, due to the nature of your construction materials, we will require form ELEC231/05 to be filled out in triplicate by the qualified electrician that installed your lighting system. Along with structural calculations for the size of the roof beams chosen. Further more, we will require proof of adequate thermal instalation if this construction is in any way intended for habitation.
Please expect and make provisions for your availability over the next 60 days for a visit from your local fire department to discuss current regulations regarding timber framed buildings.
