Timbered House under construction
Timbered House under construction
For our tank-battlefield, a little village at the river Oder, we need urgent some buildings. So I have decided to build one, a house under construction and for the skill level – a timbered house.
Main problem was how so often, a missing pattern or building plan. In the internet I found some pictures of typical houses at the Oderbruch, but without dimensions. This one seems to be a kind of typical building for this region, only different in the dimensions.
And here some derived types:
Characteristic and for all equal is only one floor with loft extension.
So once I made sketches and tried using the calculator to obtain usable measurements.
So I receive a first overview drawing in 1:5 scale.
Some details I've changed and then I began. I decided me to use wooden square bars 10 x 10 mm; so the first purchase and it starts with the sleepers – same for the whole house. So I have also just an imagination for the final size. Pictures…
This building is rather a small variant, in original size ca. (L x W x H) 9,60 m x 6 m x 5,90 m, so for the Modell remains a size of 600 mm x 380 mm x 370 mm. This is scale, like our tanks and figures in 1:16.
First I have to build the timberings, so I saw the wooden bars into many small pieces, here a bit closer; from long up to cut off the fingers is all contain.
The assembly of the first timbering. For each side I decide me to precast two parts, they are glued with wood glue and they receive in the vertical a kind of spigot connection. I will see if this is stable enough.
to be continued...

it goes on...
Here the first part in a view…
And here set up the complete side also with the wood frame on top.
And a view from the inside…
...and again from a different perspective.
So then continue to saw wooden square bars, still missing some timbering’s for all exterior walls.
The next timbering’s are ready, now are missing yet the side parts.
The sides parts receive still at the left and right each a strut, also a model have to be stable.
And so also the side parts begin to grow…
Fine tools for this work are my handed clamps.
So, it's a start, now there is no turning back. Till the next part.

Timbered House under construction
It goes on.
Now I have begun to mount the timberings on the sleepers.
I glued with „Ponal Express”, a fast glue for wood, so that I have not long to wait to continue with the next parts. It’s important to fix the parts and to glue under pressure.
Important is also the control that the corner pieces are glued exactly vertical and in right angle.
Pictures from the assembly…
All timberings are assembled and now came the frame beams; first on the longitudinal sides at the house…

Re: Timbered House under construction
Sorry guys for this long break, but now it goes on...
All timbering’s were doweled with the sleepers and the beam frames. Therefore I used wooden toothpicks.
Thereafter I began to build gables, at first without timbering’s.
Here a few pictures from the stage of construction; also the first ceiling beams…
And now with one gable as test…
Looks fine, so that I can now begin to mount both gables.
Both gables are placed; the roof beam is also installed. The first gable has receive his timbering.
A view from the other side…
Both rafters and the roof beam are placed in the middle.
Continuation follows...

Re: Timbered House under construction
Continuation...
The first gable wall is almost finished.
In the week after work, I again spent a few hours at the computer to complete the drawings for the inner walls of the ground floor.
And then it goes on with the second gable, also with timbering's.
After completion, I have dedicated myself to the bottom plate, for this I've used a XPS foam board. The base plate should also include the entrance stairs and the masonry base. Here is the 2 cm thick XPS plate, already cut to size.
Then I’ve cut out the entrance stair; it seems to fit good…
The bottom plate I don't want to glue to my building at this time, first I will finish my timbered house.
Meanwhile, I have my stock of 10 mm square bars pretty exhausted, after reorder it goes on with the "interior work".

Re: Timbered House under construction
The home builder makes again a little further. Interior is to make, so pull partition walls; first once incorporated the upper frame for the partition wall.
This bars holds on to not only by the glue, I also have the bars notched, so I receive more stability. Of these, a few pictures...
In the middle for the debouching partition wall...
…and also at the ends.
Then again building of partition walls; here the longer wall with the two entrances to the bathroom and to the kitchen.
And here for sample built-in.
A bit fine tuning is required; she hangs something in the air.
After production of the second partition wall were both built-in,
here still two views.
For the next partition wall are the first works even done, more then next time.
