I have no experience of them, but there is a firm called Seuthe that makes smoke units for OO scale locomotives.

A Timely and useful link, Gary. Unfortunately, all of Mr Crispy's pics have also gone up in smoke..courtesy of the evil Phototookit :-< Still, the text has some value along with a brace of vids. ;)

Thanks guys. Maybe I will purchase some hl smokers and mod them and see how bug they are. Looks like it might fit. The crane is very compact though.

So the HL truck I have managed to leave a 70mm wide 50mm length and 35-40mm depth. The whole engine bay is clear for a smoker.

As mentioned above, Seuthe do smoke units for all scales of model railways.

Massoth also do a pulsed smoke unit for steam locos - but pulsed smoke would be lost on a diesel/petrol engine due to the high rev rate.

Pulsed:

Standard (Same as Seuthe):

Tiger 1 Early Taigen,
Tiger 1 Mid Torro,
Tiger 1 Late Taigen,
King Tiger Taigen (P)
Jagdtiger Torro
King Tiger (H)
King Tiger Torro (H)
Tiger 1 late Torro
Panther G Taigen
