Right, in which case I didn't gain anything opting for the 12v version (although as it turns out I didn't loose anything either as already had the 5v fan). All of which makes me think the Mk1 (metal) Tarr is probably the better option in most cases. To be honest I opted for the Mk2 originally because the Torro KT I was putting it in is fairly roomy and I thought the extra capacity would be useful.
Btw, I like your idea of a transparent level tube (bit like an electric kettle?) on the side of the Tarr (if I have understood you correctly) and that would, I think, be a great upgrade. In fact if there was a version like that I'd be happy to pay the extra for it
