Bovington SU76 walkaround

Post by wibblywobbly »

Walkaround pics for the SU76 at Bovington. It differs from the WW2 version slightly as this is a captured Korean one. It's only the rear that changed. Interestingly it only has single sprockets running in a centre channel.

Thanks, that's fascinating, Wibb. Wish I could be there. One question, though- is that some bizarre attempt at winter camouflage, or has some graffitti nut ('Tanksy' :D ) been let loose in the Museum? :eh: :lolno:

I can't recall that there was any mention of the artist who decorated it. It certainly was not Banksy

It just goes to show that for all of the 'immaculate' camo paint that we all coat our tanks with, the real tanks, painted under battlefield conditions, are just plastered with anything that they can find.

Whilst we were waiting for the arena display to start, we were looking across to see which tanks they would be running. I could see the front end of a Challenger in a side area, but wondered what else there was? Richard then pointed out the T55 and something else parked next to it under the trees. It just goes to show how camo works when you don't 'know' that there is a tank there?

I was at Bovington Monday - a great place and collection. I have pictures of every tank if anyone wants anything in particular.

Many thanks Richard, your interior shots are much better than my ancient camera phone could achieve. You also managed to get good pics of the side bins.
