Hall Sensor Gimbals Arrived

Post by Jimster »

What a great day to be off work (a rare event lately)! My pair of Hall gimbals arrived today and I can’t wait to install them into my QX7. They are very well packaged in nice plastic containers that can be useful to store little items on the workbench. I guess I’m going through my mid-life crisis a little late in the game but treating my tank and radio to high quality upgrades is fun.

It might be my imagination but these new Hall gimbals seem to give me more finesse in super ultra slow speed control. Between the addition of the PDSBG upgrade and ElMod board addition I feel as if I’m driving a brand new luxury automobile!

I have the QX7 as well, Jim. It's a fine bit of kit, but how will the new gimbals improve it? I'm just curious :D

I really don't drive my tanks enough to justify investing in new radio gear but whenever I see posts like this I fall down the upgrade rabbit hole. My old Turnigy TX9 has never let me down but the QX7 does look pretty nice.

I’m fairly certain it’s just a psychological improvement but I’m in the mood to update my stuff with the most up to date, best advertised products that directly apply to my new hobby and to the tank and radio that I have. I had just as much fun with my original Heng Long RX 18 and transmitter shooting crappy plastic BBs but I enjoy buying all the aftermarket goodies as kind of a stress relief from real life. All my purchases are “hobby therapy” expenses.
I must admit that this radio set up makes my Flysky i6s feel like a child’s toy.

Hi,
i use FrSky Radios since tree years..... because they are freely programmable.
When i buy a new transmitter i always choose hall gimbals.
A potentiometer wears out - Hall-Gimbals are more precise and wear-free.
And this gimbals are completely ball bearing.

Does that mean you can put Hall Gimbals into a FlySky? Like an upgrade?

Depends of the flysky, if it is the th9 xb, yes, but you need to cut some metal.
