Weathering with Vallejo pigments and real clay

Post by seb4 »

Long time model builder I always enjoyed the weathering stage and esp using pigments.

So for my Heng Long Leopard 2a6 I am experimenting with these Vallejo pigments.

I always try it out on a old model, in this case a Tamiya Leopard 1 1/35 which I built in 1979 or so. Blimey that's long time ago. ;D

then I applied it to a drive wheel of the Heng Long. It looks good to me, only problem it is water based pigments so it could come easily of when cleaning the tank. So I will spray very carefully a mist of Tamiya flat varnish. Hopefully it will be fixated for some time.

I like the weathering of real mud so why not combine it?

This only the real mud, will add vallejo the the hull sides. And make a combo of pigment and Tamiya
acrylic thinner to make mud to the hull undersides like here on a Italeri 1/35 Schwimmwagen:
