Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build

Post by littletankman »

This was built and RC converted before I got it to a very high standard however I wish to take it to the next level.

I started with the wooden slats these are steering sticks from the Greggs tea room chain (McDonalds was to bussy  ), I poped a donation in there collection box and promptly left with a hand full 8) I had to reduce the width to 4mm and make a join but this will be under the seats.

As you can see from the previous pictures I have altered the front seats. I removed the solid back and rounded the frame, I also added the two lower cross members . The bars were added to the rear , made from ear cleaning bud sticks. I have seen Kubels with the solid bars and springs. Just need to do the bottom and make the cushions. I bolted the seats to the tub.

I next added the reflective sleeves to the head lights . These are from a childs toy torch from Poundland . I had to scrap out the inside of the stock light so the sleeve would fit and also alter the sleeve . There should be room for a small led . I will also add the missing detail.

I have re made the seats with home made springs . Not 100% accurate but the areas you will see once the cushions on will look ok . I should of cut out the piece on the front lip and rounded the frame like I did on the back . But once the cushions on it will be hidden. I got to the last spring on the bottom and the cross member at the rear came of :/ So I drilled out each end and pined it in as well as gluing it . It wont move now.

Ps I think Im going to cut out that front lip its bugging me now :(
