JP 233,
Have been folllowing your excellent JagdPanther rebuild. I lucked into a 1/8 Mark I Panther last year (that was built as static, but will be rc when I'm done) to go along with two RC Armory King Tigers, a Tiger I, And JagdTiger (all 1/8 scale). Please tell where you found that nice tank commander figure. Paul

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been away on holiday. Unfortunately the company who supplied the figure have since gone out of business. The figure was made in the USA by a company called Warriors. Its actually in 1/9(ish!) scale but looks ok. The bust is item no 9055 Obersturmbahnnfuhrer Jochen Pieper. Hopefully its still out there somewhere. I will be changing mine a bit as I will be adapting the figure using a number of parts from another commander figure. Parts including headphones, throat mics with cables etc. I'm thinking of sculpting some lower arms for him if I can find some spare 1/9 hands out there! Anybody??

After refitting batteries and all the internals it was starting to get a bit heavy for man handling. I decided to make moving it around a little easier with some plywood and castors.

To create some surface texture I used finetex aerosol. Its a product used for automotive vinyl trim repairs. By varying spray distance and speed you can alter the desired texture

Finally, after a spell of decent weather with enough warmth for spraying I got things outdoors and cleaned and masked. The primer is Vallejo Dunkelgelb.

I am really enjoying following your build as well. The sheer effort that you have put into making a better model is just amazing!

One of my builds is a 1/8 Heller Citroen CV15, which the German forces frequently used as a staff car. You can find the kits at a reasonable price if you're patient, and I believe that it can be RC'd to operate (the original was front wheel drive, and I'm sure that Tamiya makes something that can be adapted for it).

Anyway, I have also been looking for suitable figures in this scale for that build; or as close as I can get to it. ESCI made two 1/9 figures for their series of kits - not exactly the right scale, but perhaps close enough to modify and use. There was a standing Panzer Grenadier figure made of styrene, and also a seated figure that came with the Kettenkrad kit, but that one was made of vinyl. I also looked for 9" figures, which would be the right height. The best one I could find was a Star Trek figure of Captain Piccard, (he looks kind of German, if you could make a better uniform). At least it would give you a figure you could pose to get the stance you want, as well as having the arms and hands you were looking for. -Mike

Thanks for the comments and info Mike,
After putting on a lighter version of dunkelgelb I started on the camo pattern. Next will be the filters then varnish and washes etc.

Since the motorcycle road racing season has started work on the "lada"" full of junk" (its apparently the new description for these models on here) has taken a bit of a back seat. The Track bike is built and ready for its first outing of the year so that will be taking up a bit my spare time. Managed to get some markings done and will get some photos up. Then its on with some filters, weathering etc. Looking forward to this bit.Any thoughts on a good filter colour to go over 3 colour camo would be appreciated.

Looks good. Excellent weld and cutting marks and the paint has a great texture.
