Adding the internal step / ledge which holds the 20mm cannon and MG42 and sighting mount which all elevate at the same time on one platform.
Also cut out the bottom of the turret base for crew access.

Internals of turret fitted out with 20mm cannon, sights and mounting just need to make an MG42 and mount.
Now the turret is up to whete this build log started 20mm and sights build on page 1.

Moved over to the front for a bit.
As this is a late war ( very) Sdk.fz 251 Ausf D there are some manufacturing updates, to decrease cost and manufacturing time and reduction in steel used.
The 2 part small engine access hatches were replaced with 1 front to back opening steel plate giving more access and quicker to make, the front section over the radiator was modified, instead of just having a hole for the radiator cap in a welded steel panel, it was removed and a side opening full width panel was added which greatly improved access to the front of the engine and radiator.( i have photos of them running with this hatch open, probably due to overheating issues ).
A couple of pics, still need the latches making.

Hi,
Back around to the rear again.
Left hand rear door handle fitted and mounting for right hand handle fitted ( all the pics i have of several different vehicles they only ever have the one left hand rear door handle ?).
Made the multi directional tow hitch, it goes up and down plus rotates in the tubular mount ( sort of like pitch and roll )
Presumanly for towing things over very rough terrain works really well, still needs cleaning up a bit, pin lifts out for towing stuff. Made from brass and 60 thou styrene.

Hi.
So having made the lockers etc, i decided to make the padlocks that secure them, they are also held onto the side of the locker with a length of chain to prevent loss.
Armed with a couple of close up photos i made these, just need to add the key covering plate if i can make one small enough, the padlocks are tiny...took a bit to get the holes drilled in them correctly and the thin brass wire loop and chain hitch, but think they are ok, or will be when finished and painted.
