1/6 t34 project, here we go

After a while of looking for a 1/6 tank at a reasonable price we finally settled on a Mark 1 Tanks 1/6 t34 76 stz that was advertised on here and other sites. I struck a deal and the Christmas pressie was sorted

The inside:

When running something didn't seem right so with investigation I noticed the tracks were catching on the rear drive wheels, the rollers on the wheels were fine but the tracks caught on the top points
Image
So after some sanding I settled on this
Image
Which was massive improvement after the track tension was reduced.
Next was the suspension the 5mm bolts were mainly bent and out of align
Image
SO replaced with 6mm and some silicone tube damping
Image
This made the tank a lot better again, it now runs without the tracks trying to jump off the wheels.
Next on the list is to fix the alignment of the road wheels but someone has welded the swing arm levers to the swing arms but not just a small tack its a full on weld so will need a lot of grinding to sort that, so I may at the same time make a CNC chassis in 6mm steel plate as I have a workshop capable of such stuff.
Hence the "Here we go" bit.
I can see so many ways to improve this from wiring to sounds etc, but at least its running a lot better already.

Thanks for sharing, 6th scale are big buggers for sure!
Funny I’ve been deliberating on suspension bolt sizes for a few weeks now as I’ll need to finally make my mind up so I can print the parts with the correct hole sizes.
I decided on 6mm bolts for the return rollers & they are printing now, I’m just using brass tube for bearings.
I’d be interested to see what motors & gearboxes yours uses as I’ll have to decide the drive for mine as well soon.
Good luck!
Cheers

As far as I know, that's how they're shipped from Russia. All the ones I have seen are made this way.

Looks like yours is 24V and presumably chain drive ?

I have an ISU152 which is still 12V and has the dreadful original gearbox in it, so I'd be most grateful to see some pics of your drive gear.

The drive system with 2 motors
Image

The motors
Image

The welding, that wont come off fast
Image

Wiring is a bit unbelievable with the smoker and the light still having power with the power switch turned off, also the light and smoker are turned on using a servo to activate a microswitch. Very odd.Servo can be seen in this picture.
Image

Battery held in place with long bolts to stop movement, this is changing quickly.
Image

The brains(TCU) with speaker wiring solder to PCB, nice.
Image

My planned changes are:
Battery tray with strap to hold them in place
Relocate TCU
Make space for better sound system.
Sort wiring and add multi connectors to the turret.
Turret turn is fine but elevation is rubbish
Recoil needs sorting.
More will come

Thanks for the pics.

These are the before and after pictures from a King Tiger. I bought a small Bosch angle grinder specifically to get these parts apart.

Adrian, that’s not welding, it’s bird sh/t...
When you spend 6th scale money you’d expect better than that tbh.
