Gearbox swap

Post by jukebox »

The first mod I did on my Matorro King Tiger was to ditch the feeble motors and plastic gearboxes with a set of Mato brass gears. This is a straight forward swap, open the hull, take out the plastic gearboxes, fit the Mato mounting plate then fit the gearboxes, simples! :D
The difference this makes to the drivability of the tank is amazing, a good reduction in speed and no problems turning on grass or carpet, always a struggle with the original gears and motors.

Hi Saxondog, the gearboxes were a perfect fit, dropped straight in, and the original drive sprockets went on with no modifications needed. The gearboxes were supplied by Kin at Tankzone.

Thanks, Their have been issues with gearbox installs as I'm sure you know, My early Asiatam Lower hull required modification, minor but still had to drill two mounting holes.

Hi, thanks for the interest, I'll get myself organised and start a build post soon on the Torro King Tiger, I bought the parts over a few months and have now started putting it together, this work thing keeps getting in the way! :/ In the meantime here's a teaser:

I've got a Torro King Tiger in finished as I've not got all the parts yet. It will have a Elmod Fusion Pro , but not sure which gearbox to instead either a 4:1 or 5:1. Not sure if I want to put a smoker in it as I'm not that impressed with the ones I've seen ro be honest.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
