Scratch build Tiger 2 Part 1

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Modifications I made to the lower tank.
Finally with all the various gear box projects coming to an end I tried to install the final version into my Tiger2.
To my dismay I had to completely take the lower tank apart.
Nice experience,but very time consuming.
To install and remove the gear boxes with ease I had to reduce the width of each gear box by 6mm.
The geared motors I used were sold on the internet as 30:1.
The installed gear boxes produced outstanding crawling capabilities, but max. speed was to slow.
Trying different motors did not work either,so I started experimenting with the gear boxes itself.
By removing one gear, the gear box became faster, yet still had good crawling ability.
There were other modifications that needed to be done as well.
When I first started the tank project,I wanted a fully working tank model that could betaken fully apart in all its individual parts
just like a meccano set.
Accuracy of scale at that time was not a big issue. As time went on I became more aware of scale accuracy and found the wheel
axles were in the wrong place, also the suspension arms were to short.
As it was it still worked fine, but knowing they were not to scale some what took the icing of the cake'.
So I made new sides of the tank and new suspension arms.
I also anodized all the aluminium parts.
Here are some pictures of it.
