New Panther G track and sprocket dont mesh

Post by mitchell »

Decided to get new wide winter tracks for the new Panther build. Problem is the tracks and sprocket will not mesh, the sprocket teeth dont dig into the space in the track very well and as a result there is terrible track slipping - sprocket spins and cant grip very well.

Any suggestions?

I'm surprised this doesn't come up more often, every set of Asiatam/Taigen panther track I've bought suffer this. The sprockets have a casting issue that means the teeth are too wide. Best way to fix this is use a dremel to grind the teeth thinner, taking more off the back side so you can't see it. I've found that the stock metal henglong sprockets work with these tracks just fine.

It's ridiculous, it's so bad that more than once I've thought that I had bought parts from different models.Looks like the dremel is needed again

Did you buy the tank as a whole? I think when they assemble them they do something to solve the issue but all I can say is I and others from the club had the same issue with their Taigen panther tracks/sprockets

Building it up from scratch. Yeah I agree, there must be some finishing work with pre assembled tanks

Just checking again if anyone knows where i can get a set of Panther tracks and sprockets which mesh straight out of the box so to speak. I'm still the proud owner of a really nice looking Taigen Panther F, built from scratch which wont run. Its the winter tracks and standard metal sprockets. I've bought several pairs of sprockets, none mesh with the tracks straight out of the box, not even close, and its very difficult to file them down correctly to make them fit. Its all very frustrating. I'm very tempted to just buy a complete lower hull from rctank.de

If anyone has a working set of Panther tracks and sprockets for sale i'd be most interested
