End of Saumur Panzer IV restoration.

Post by FredtheFrench »

After maybe 10 years of restoration, the Saumur's Panzer IV works again.

It is exposed at retromobile (today is the last day). He will be visible at Saumur museum, but i don't be surprised to see him at Militracks. After a long restoration, I think it will be a star during this show and if Saumur museum participate this year for the 10 years of this event...

Merci beaucoup! Fred
Great restoration, and a talented driver too. He can certainly follow hand signals well, through that miniscule vision block. (No reversing sensors, nor mirrors either, I think.)
The side skirts have camo resembling a (magnified) close-up of poppies in a hayfield. Nice, if slightly at odds with the upper hull.

Looks like they need to do a little more work on the bores and piston rings, judging by the amount of oil in the exhaust :wtf:

Thank you Fred for your panzer IV posting, quite fascinating

Awesome video! Nice to see another one up and running. alot of the smoke coming off is the paint on the muffler cooking off. This is a great example for modelers that even when new it doesn't take long for that paint to disappear replaced by blackened rust. For those that don't know heat also causes rust. Always funny to see Afrika Corp vehicles with the mufflers virtually rusted out in the dry desert...
