Walker Bulldog Reference Material

Post by Rogue Sub »

There isnt alot of info on this site or even places like amazon for this tank. This isnt very surprising seeing how the german tanks are the cats meow. granted there is info on the sherman, pershings, patton and m1a1 but no bulldog (books included) that I have found yet.

Because of this I will include some light info I have found on this tank during my little net research sessions.

This Man has done an amazing job making his miniature to a near factory finish and has done very good research.

1951- USA M41 Walker Bulldog Light Tank

Armament: 1 - 76mm gun
1 - 7.62mm coaxial MG
1- 12.7mm MG AA
Engine: Continental AOS 895-3, 6cyl., air cooled supercharged, gas, 500 hp
Speed: 45 mph max.
Range: 99 miles
Crew; 4
Weight: 26 tons

Developed after WWII to replace the Chaffee. Key
feature: welded turret with sloping sides, overhanging
rear. Saw extensive service in the Korean and Vietnam
conflicts. This tank had a state of the art power train. Purchased by over 25 nations.

The actual Walker Bulldog was a 'hot runner' and the mufflers would glow red after a few minutes of running the engines. The heat would bake off the finish on the Muffler Covers in short notice. Actual asbestos-like panels were inserted between the Mufflers and the center Sponson Stowage Box to protect it from the heat.
All I need is a tank that can dive like a sub and shoot torpedoes.
