Bovington King Tiger photos

Post by John Glover »

Any one planning a trip to Bovington. I was hoping if some one could get some close photos of the aerial tube mounting brackets on the King Tiger and the space between tube and the hull. I would love to visit myself but I am in New Zealand. Regards John.

I am not happy viewing restored Tanks without some reference as to what work was carried out,
That aerial stowage tube looks like it is a length of scaffolding pole and there are no obvious mounting points.
Trouble is original pictures of all types of German Tanks upper works in plan form and the rear plate are rare.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Great book and full of loads of good reference photos, I'm just starting my KT. I will be going over to bovvy again soon, I'll post when I'm going over and see if you need any photos. In the mean time some pics that may help. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I went to bovington before I moved up north.
Took loads of pics of everything just in case they came in handy! Especially the KT as I was/am in the middle of a build.ImageImageImage

Hello,
Took these this week, I agree that the tube does look like scaffold pole , where the paint has flaked off it has the galvanised look of scaffold poles. Not sure where the other images I took went but the tube is just welded to two L shaped brackets .
