Latest acquisition
So I start this thread, as a point for anyone to show off their latest acquisition
This is mine.
It’s an ir toro IS2, it’s from rctank.de
Sadly the flight from Germany with dhl wasn’t kind to it and it arrived slightly damaged. Which means I will now have to paint over quite a nice paint and weathering scheme unless I can match it up by just painting the repaired panel and re/added weathering
As you can see from the photo I have started a repair with the only part found in the box.
I’m hopeful that with a rub down with a bit of super fine sand paper, a little putty filler and a dab of 4bo I can match it up with a little dusting similar to what was done on my su85

Re: Latest acquisition
My latest acquisition was also a Taigen IS-2 that I ordered from Legend Hobby here in Texas. Arrived with zero damage, but it was only shipped like 40 miles.

They are all easy fixes but not really something you want in a tank that cost just short of 600 eur including postage

Re: Latest acquisition
My JS arrived from Forgebear in England, all the way to the Gold Coast Australia completely flawless!
I had to convince Mr Bear to actually sell it to me, due to the prospect of damage during transit which was an affront to his usual standard of delivery.
I assured him that if the post didnt wreck it-I would !!
And I did
I I had any option I would have got an unpainted one, but after a bit of work, the paint I have now covers the durable but awful factory job.
Best stock up on Mr Surfacer 500 paste mate, these use a lot to cover them
Be great to see what you do with it.

I don’t think I will do much with it just repair and repaint I think. This one doesn’t seem to bad on the casting marks, I’m not entirely sure that it was damaged on it way to me I think it was damaged on way to rctank. Some of the smaller broken parts aren’t even in the box

Re: Latest acquisition
My IS2 was one of the first batch where l think only 3 arrived undamaged at Forgebear. I had the pleasure of Dave and Julie's company on Christmas Eve when they delivered it by hand rather than risk damage and see me miss my Christmas present on the big day - now that's service!
That was a couple of years ago but l well remember my surprise when l opened the door to find Julie carrying the large and very heavy box! You have her well trained Dave

Re: Latest acquisition
Typical damage of Taigen/Torro models because of brittle plastic they use. My Jagdtiger was massacred during shipment because of that.

Re: Latest acquisition
Yes, the plastic is brittle but the cause of the IS2 front fender damage was an internal packaging issue where the heavy model is held in place by the moulded foam. The foam should not touch any unsupported body panels, such as the front or rear fenders as they were not designed to take load. Hornby is currently experiencing the same problem with their new W1 class loco where the smoke deflectors are being broken in transit.
It just takes a little lateral thinking on the part of the packaging designers. Wrapping the retail boxes in padding makes no difference as it's the significant G forces in transit that cause the breakages.

Re: Latest acquisition
It seems to be the way they are packaged, theres no impact damage to the box of mine that I can see there for I believe it could have been damaged being packed at the factory.
I emailed rctank.de about it and with the type of service we all know of from dom he offered replacement parts at no cost.
I have accepted the offer of the small missing parts but declined the upper hull as I believe it was damaged before dom even got the stock
