British-built Panthers and their fate
Re: British-built Panthers and their fate
Every tank design is based around compromise. There was nothing wrong with the humble Sherman, it was very capable of getting the job done. Unlike anything produced by Germany or the Soviets, every tank the US built needed to be shipped across the Atlantic which limited size and weight. It was economical, upgradable, reliable, versatile, easily maintained and had quite a distinguished post-war career.
