Ah so- the seabed's rising near the island then. Could this betoken another La Palma situation? If Mt Suribachi is about to erupt now, it's about 76 years too late. One, in 1945, could have saved a lot of US Marine lives- but would have toasted a lot of embedded Japanese. In hindsight, however, it's not a great way to shuffle off this mortal coil. Then again, flame-throwers provided a horrible exit too...

Thank you for posting that link. I am going to pass it on to others who will be interested. Then, too, my father was in the South Pacific in the US Signal Corps. '43'-'46, so all such matters interest me out of love and respect for him and the others who faced such horrors.

Might be, but given the rate of island formation & disappearance in the Pacific it could just be land movement.
