Quite by chance- as many things are discovered, I came across this video, and found it to be the chilling-most, most relaxing and immersive short film I've seen recently. It's well filmed and edited; but also demonstrates just what can be done in the model world with a lathe and milling machine. It's worth 13 mins of your time.
Yes, and you also get a BANG! for your bucks!.

It's all too easy to find inescapably alluring bits of engineering these days on Youtube. Overcoming the desire to indulge oneself in the gear needed to replicate these mini marvels, however, is not so easy.
Here's another, and more apposite example from a RCTW perspective. I'd simplylurve one of these
One of our esteemed members, Doc Phibes, had a mini-triumph with a loadable gun in 1/16 scale with his M36 Tank Destroyer-incidentally. Check it out here:

Re: Mini Cannon metal magic....
Nice, and done with the stiff lip flair of a cricket commentator !!
I used to make cannons as an apprentice, out of steel offcuts though as brass was too exotic for my workplace.
Certainly did not put the same level of care into them then as in the video, but they were an ok ships cannon at the time.
Do wish I had kept a couple, make good book ends now
