Panzer III with Schurzen

Post by Rob59 »

Hello tank builders around the Globe!
Been a while, but I had a little project going on which I would like to share.
From a friend in Germany I got a Heng Long Panzer III, all plastic but Metal Gears und main gun.
The old 27 mHz main board was inside, but I didn't care at that moment.
Plan was to upgrade it with a TK-6.0 board in the future.
As I am a great fan of Schurzen on Panzer III's, IV's and StuG's, this one had to get them too.
So, here we go:
The Tank the way I got it out of Germany....

Next thing to do, fooling around with some brass stuff to make the brackets/hangers for the Schurzen alongside the Panzer and the turret as well.

Next I made some drawing fore the Schurzen, and made them out of thin aluminum plates, thickness less than 1mm

At first I made them in one piece, which made it easier to get it fit allright. When I had sepperated them yet, it could have been a struggle to get them all alligned.
I sepperated them later on.

During the "project"I adjusted the sizes of the height of the Schurzen several times to make it look "good"....

Schurzen need brackets to stay on the Panzer too.
Bend some Brass and soldered it on the L-shaped hanger.
Just before you are going to shoot me....It never was my intention to built in scale.
I do not care much for scale stuff on my tanks, most important for me, is the shit stays where it is supposed to be, when I drive my tanks outdoors!
