Hobby Boss 1/16 Tiger 1

Post by ronnie42 »

Bought this for the track hangers from the Tank Museum shop £88 , Amazon were selling at £180+,not good to see the big internet shops taking advantage of the lockdown . Have all the guts to make it a house runner, has a few defects but the major HL and Taigen problems are gone. Turret ring correct ,nice weld and cut marks , rear hull plate correct flush with hull deck and the mid/late shaped plate on rear engine cover. Anyone built one, some Al angle and plate should fix any flex .
Cheap as chips

Looks packed with promise, Ronnie. My particular bugbear with Taigen and HL is that they always show the top edge of the front armour plate as a straight line, when the ends either side are, in fact, sloped. Tamiya get that detail right, and so do Hobby Boss!

I built a hybrid of this and many after market parts. Painless now owns it.

You couldn't find anyone better able to appreciate it, Terry.

Good evening,
I do. I put some extra detail and a figure on it and it is a Rock-Solid piece of Heavy German Armor . Eats up the Rough like no bodies business.
regards,
Painless *winks*

I too vouch for the utility of the hobby boss mid tiger! I made this steel wheeled mid out of one. It fits pretty nicely on the taigen chassis if you want something a little more robust to run.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

That’s a beautiful Tiger. The detailing, like the jack and fire extinguisher, is superb.

Good luck Ronnie. These affordable 1/16 static kits are really grabbing my interest.

What else is in the box?

Hi Only the basic tank the running gear is ok, all plastic /ABS. will need some work on the idler for track tension. Wrong sprockets and idler for mid/late , think only the commanders hatch is free to move. Have everything needed to make a runner, will do my usual stuff for turret mechanics.
