Interesting Machine

Waldschlepper rs 1500

I've stumbled across this little truck RSO combination and with all of our accomplished builders I'm wondering how difficult it would be to design and build. I assume it would be 3D printed and utilize the WPL chassis and some other pieces

Deutz forest tractor 1500
The forest tractor 1500 is a kind of post-war improvisation and was manufactured from 1946 to 1948 in the Magirus Iveco Klöckner factory Ulm.
As a so-called "half-track tractor", the axle has normal pneumatic tires at the front and chain tracks at the rear.
A air-cooled Deutz F4L514 engine was used. The first version had 70 HP and original chains from the Reichsschlepper Ost (RSO).
It was a visible emergency construction for difficult times, recognizable by the iron chain crawlers and the cable winch.
The half-caterpillar tractor was given to foresters and farmers against a purchase certificate and is a very rare sight today!
Technical specifications
Construction period: 1946 - 1948
Number of pieces: 802 pieces
Engine: Deutz F4L514
Cooling: air
Cylinder: 4
Cubic capacity: 5320 cc
Power: 70 hp
Empty weight: 3800 kg

I have a front axle that would work on that already, use tamiya track sysetm behind and then the top i have modelled in CAD.
So easy enough, but i trying to get a normal RSO done first

Interesting thought here.......... is the front axle a steering axle or is it actually a fixed solid axle with the steering still only being done with the tracks?
The pictures i am finding lead me to believe it is actually solid!
This means the chassis is a cut down version of what is used in the other RSO we know about, but there are brakes on an axle to action turn.

TURNS OUT!
The front wheels have brakes and actually do not turn in the normal sense, so it is skid steer.
Plus i believe the front axle is also driven from the main drive.
Very odd arrangement, there is no steering wheel fitted, but the brake pedal has one each side like fiddle brakes and then also long lever arms for braking the tracks.
What an interesting setup!
