I'm going to be honest Hoobens RTR tanks are awful and they constantly lie to peopleXiaoshan_Sailor wrote:Gents,43rdRecceReg wrote:Many thanks, Xiaoshan, for the input and pics of new developments. The 'Goliath' is (in its present form) a wee rib-tickler, as it would spin around in circles. Congrats, at the same time, on your impeccable English.
If British armour in 1/16 scale could be likened to the Sahara desert; the prospect of Clark's Cromwell comes as something of an oasis. With the prospect of a Comet, Centurion, and Crusader it's more like an oasis with beer, champagne, and whisky (or gin) thrown in
Do keep us up to date with developments here. Thanks again!
(Mine's a 15-year old single malt whisky, by the way. Cheers!)
Considering I'm from the States hewn out of fine English & Welsh ancestry, my English isn't too bad. I, too, have to agree with your oasis analogy since I've been pining for British armor since I walked into Heng Long & Trumpeter over a dozen years ago so will keep you posted on Clark's efforts as they develop. BTW, he does plan to put up the new models on his website for those who aren't fans of Facebook. A Matilda may well appear as well but its down the list.
Am more than happy to help keep you folks in the loop in an unvarnished & non-biased view from this side of the pond. I happen to live in Hangzhou, less than an hour away from Arkmodel/Hooben & know the local hobby scene well. Feng has a number of new 1/10 models in the works so it should be a good year for any AFN fan.
Single malts in the mid-teen years are a favorite of mine as well - sure beats that nasty baijiu the locals love to quaff in my neck of the world.
Cheers!

Re: Clark-Model Projected 0ne Sixteenth Cromwell Mk IV
Clark, indeed, has several vehicles under consideration including the long awaited jeep & 251. Those are already on the design list and I'm sure others are being given their due. Considering he already makes the boards for this series, am certain there will be far more to come.
He's very interested in early WW2 armor that have been neglected that will allow lower price points such as the BT-7 which will follow the Cromwell; others such as Pz II Ausf A-C & 38t, etc.. that will be the perfect base for expansion into models not seen in the RC market before. Given he's going to rely heavily on SLA 3D printing for the plastic upper & detail parts coupled with metal lower hull & suspension, this will allow far greater flexibility when it comes to offering variants down the road.
I applaud his approach since he's among the first Chinese I know who truly thinks outside the box.
Again, if you like what you see, visit his Facebook page & comment on what you'd like to have on your bench or battlefield.

Regarding variants, here's a perfect example of where Clark is planning to go either as preassembled RTR models or optional aftermarket parts that can be sold to modelers.

Even if only half of what Clark is proposing comes to fruition I think we are in for a good spell in the Rc armour world, I'm with the other guys drooling over the thought of accurate 1/16 ww2 vehicles and the like
( any more news on torro's 1/16 rc schwimmwagen ? )
Cheers, Lee.

I think it's time for some of the old rehashed favourites (Tigers 1 and 2, Pz 111, Pz IV; etc.. even the venerable Sherman... ) to make room for some new kids on the breech-block.

well, the BT-7 is quite an interesting project! I´m wondering about the tracks he will use?Xiaoshan_Sailor wrote:Clark, indeed, has several vehicles under consideration including the long awaited jeep & 251. Regarding the early WW II tanks, I´ll complete the German tank development with the Panzer II Ausf. C so that RC tanks from Panzer I to Panzer VI will be available at the market.
I guess this year late it will be available.
The Panzer I is available since some months:

Re: Clark-Model Projected 0ne Sixteenth Cromwell Mk IV
Clark just announced he'll offer the BT-7 for sale ahead of the Cromwell starting mid-April. As with the Cromwell, there will be a initial period to solicit interest & orders followed by prototype "golden" sample after which payment will be due after presentation. Delivery will follow in August.

Re: Clark-Model Projected 0ne Sixteenth Cromwell Mk IV
As with Cromwell & other planned releases, the BT-7 will be RTR only. No kits planned at this time.
