Mr Plagerreap, do you intend to build this as a 16th RC model?

Maybe not right away, but when I have the time and money, most likely. Right now I'm a bit busy with school.

Nope, just an 18 year old with too much time on my hands, but too young to have the resources to put into this kind of stuff. Or I'd be building tanks left and right, could make it a hobby and a job if I play my cards right ;) :haha: Plus it gets annoying explaining why I bought a tank just to tear it apart and put the parts in my own kit. :lolno: (Because it's cheaper for me to buy the tank and do that, then to buy the parts)

You think that's annoying, just you wait till you're married, and the woman in your life that owns dozens of pairs of shoes with matching handbags asks you why you need another toy tank/toy car/bowling ball/etc, etc when you only had one or two lol.
I'm sure we get more and more out of defiance ;)

My standard answer is, don't worry dear, they'll still fetch a good price when I'm gone (while I'm thinking, "your shoes won't") :D

As for working out cheaper, that's what I like about heng long, you can do as much or as little with them as you like, and if ones budget is very tight, it must be interesting to learn new modelling skills, and give an extra feeling of accomplishment and pride in oneself

Now I'm going to sound like a boring old fart....

You get one go at life. The better you do at school the better opportunity you have to get the sort of job you'll enjoy doing (you spend a lot of time working so you may as well enjoy it), and, generally speaking, the better it pays. The more money you earn the less restrictions you'll experience in life and the more surplus cash you'll have for hobbies. No guarantee of happiness but with a little luck you'll find that too. Sunday sermon over! Best of luck.

Today's tip - look after those who look after you, so go to the likes of Dave's webshop first, but if no luck, go to China direct (virtually!) because that's where its all made and it's a mere fraction of the price. If you don't feel that brave you can visit the chinese retailers via Ebay but however you do it, use PayPal - invaluable when things go wrong! Remember though, local specialists first.

Finally, in theory you should be able to use the entire electronics and many of the components of a cheap, used but working HengLong tank to get a static scratch built tank operational. Maybe someone here could assist but otherwise good ol' EBay will have what you need. I'd suggest something big would be best as that will give you a longer track to play with - something my partner often tells me
