Re: Oh dear 2 new wpl trucks ZIL 151
I wonder if using two of the 6x6 running gear could be made into a Puma ?
Or at least a peasants version of one ?
Mr Midnight did a great job on his 222 so the concept is there.

Or perhaps a Ford Greyhound or maybe a post war Alvis Saladin or Saracen or even an Alvis Stalwart.
Lots of six wheeled military vehicles out there.
I was going to suggest a DUKW but I guess that's a bit to raw right now.

'Or at least a peasants version' - haha! Yes, with a disk cutter and a few tools the simple design of these models will allow you to develop all sorts of wheeled vehicles but, running on this gear it will always be a low grade performer. My other model is due today from Banggood btw, was 31 quid last week!
The alternative is to modify a Tamiya truck which is just as simple, and it comes without electrics so you don't have to throw them away (!!) but it will cost an arm and a leg - little if any change from a grand if done to a high level. My big highly modified Kenworth tank transporter tug would have paid for 50 of these small toys but.......we still clearly love them, warts an' all!
I'll try to post a few tiny pics latter.

Re: Oh dear 2 new wpl trucks ZIL 151
Distracted by the second truck arriving from Banggood at 8am this morning, I then spent the rest of the day fitting an auto decoupler servo to my Kenworth 5th wheel and, using my 4 axle extended low loader, l can now stop, unload, uncouple and then drive onto the trailer!
However, back to the Zil. Again, l must commend the strength of the abs model as it somehow survived the journey from China to Essex protected by nothing more than a very cheap grade cardboard box with no internal foam support such that it was rattling a round inside. Banggood, like most Chinese suppliers, then provide the ultimate postal protection.....they wrap the crushed card box in a black plastic bin bag! I guess its symbolic?
Later this morning the receivers and servos for the Zils arrived so I'll spend the rest of the week stripping the second model, correcting the various faults, replacing all the electrics and, by the weekend, finish off this mini Russian support fleet, refueling the T34 and KV1 without lend lease trucks (or were the original Zils from the US anyway??)
l will then post some pics - promise!

Yeah tell me about unfinished haha. In 1 year I have gone from 2 cars to having 52 models of tanks, trucks, cars and boats. If I include the planes 60 RC models.
I try to tell myself I not sick and not obsessed, but I don't believe me haha
