Tamiya Jagdpanther- static version...

Post by 43rdRecceReg »

Recent discussions of Tamiya's intention of discontinuing The Jagdpanther, made me think it would be worthwhile getting the static version before they're unobtainable too. Looking at Axel's, that creeping, remorseless urge to splurge come upon me...before I knew it, I'd ordered the last one they had in stock. 8O
I've see a few lately on Ebay, and they're cheap by comparison with the few European dealers with the actual product listed as 'in stock'. The ones on Ebay are Japanese, and when the costs of postage, then import duty, VAT, 'release charges' etc.,from all the other people clamouring for a piece of your hard won income are added, they probably come as dear, or dearer than Axel.

This would make a great shell for an Elmod, Tk60 of IBU2, with bags of room for servos and extra gizmos..including smoke.. I imagine.
If nothing else, it's a project for a lot of rainy days..

I applaud your decision to purchase this one. The AAF tank museum here in the states sent an email last week noting the last two rc kits they had in-stock were thier last for good. A wise decision sir  even if it's not FO it will make a great rc conversion.
Tanks alot....

In case it’s not your ‘bag’ and you haven’t seen it before check Andy’s Hobby Headquarters YouTube channel where he does a two part build of this kit.

Thanks, Adam and Carl... your support makes me feel easier about yielding to temptation...yet again !. 8O Even though I experienced the usual slightly guilty, slightly queasy, feeling you get when spending a lot of money, it really did seem a sensible investment for the future. Prices have shot up on Tamiya models since last Autumn, as I've pointed out a few times, and I can only see them going ever higher. Don't forget also that when we come out of the EU, it will cost much more to make use of Axel, Christian, and other German model sources and parts suppliers.. :eh:
I think the Jagdpanther is a really eye-catching Tank/Tank-killer, he writes..attempting to squish any final doubts about the impulse purchase .. :shifty: :haha:
By the way, I came across this thread today from Tankmad, out Glaswegian tank maestro. Back in 2014 (and Painless made a reference to it a year ago), he began sawing up a Tamiya Panther...Yes..you do believe your eyes..I really did write 'Tamiya Panther'. he was going to convert it into the so-called 'Ersatz M10". It looks like a fantastic, and fairly unique opportunity to build a genuine WW2 oddity. That's if..and it's a massive IF, you're prepared to put a Tamiya..or even a Taigen to the sword....
This 'q' tank is a new one on me. I new about Germans dressed as Yanks in the Ardennes, but not that they gone to such customising levels as produce a Panther that Looked fairly like the M10 (apart from the suspension, that is..)
It's well worth checking out if, like me, it's an undiscovered model to you.

I thought Andy usually specialised in 1/35 models, but you're right about the 1/16th two-parter  Good tip.
Following on the Ersatz theme (not that I will be hacking and battering Jagdpanther of a Panther into an M10 tribute act :haha: ):

Maybe after finishing the Cromwell, the Panzer IV, the StuG IV,the Sherman Firefly (yet to begin that.. :wtf: ), and the Jagdpanther, I might consider having a bash at one of these curiosities. It would make a change from the usual
fare. ;)

Well, I only ordered this on the 15th, and guess what landed on the mat in my porch today...

That's pretty quick considering it has travelled from Germany, to the Highlands. A takeaway from Inverness would take much longer (a 50cc put put doing 76 miles :lolno: )

There's enough for the Complete exterior of the tank, and this means the interior space is up for grabs..
When I get round to building this, and it will be quite a while, I expect, it won't have Tamiya internals. I reckon I might well go down the Elmod road for a massive change.. I've already tried the TK22,TK60, IBU2 Pro, and now the Elmod remains as unexplored electronic territory for me.

Roy, Good afternoon,
I have been on the fence for some time about which Jadgpanther to get. I'm watching both Tamiya versions, Static and Full Option for a Mikes Tiger kind of build of just a straight Tamiya build. I also have Eric from Taigen on the line awaiting a look at their metal jobbie with the complete metal lower, etc., for a detail build. This gives me more food for thought. Thanks, Doc. ( and I haven't forgotten that IS-2 coming out later this year either ) *chuckles* Congratulations on that beautiful kit!
regards,
Painless
