Re: Porsche vs Henschel King Tiger
Sadly I've read so much over the years that its not easy to give links anymore. The Elephant came from mentioning all the left over its were cobbled together to build whatever the Germans could.
Coat or not the 911 understeers, the older they are the worse they are. All the coats and scarves, sweaters, hat's and gloves in the world can't change physics. All that weight at the rear and none on the front.

Hi guys, I do understand the shot trap issue with porsche turret. The same problem occur on early panther mantlets as well.
But I am more into looks. Which looks nicer?

Re: Porsche vs Henschel King Tiger
Whoops! Upon doing a little reading it turns out calling the early version a Porsche turret is actually incorrect! It was NOT designed by Porsche it was in fact a Krupp designed turret just like the later version was also designed by Krupp.
Now I wonder where this confusion as to them being Porsche or Henchel turrets came from since neither were?

That would be the late model turret.

Son of a gun-ner wrote:I thought we'd passed that, because I got me coat. But then again you need something to throw back at me as there doesn't seem to be a porche shaped turret during the initial tiger 1 design, and you can't change historic fact lol.jackalope wrote:Coat or not the 911 understeers, the older they are the worse they are. Mick.
P.S. well Mr seekaliao, you certainly know how to get a discussion going
But neither turret was designed by Porsche. You keep bringing up needing a coat from my garbage truck on ice statement I'm not throwing anything back at you. Besides like I said NEITHER turret was designed by Porsche, both were Krupp designed.

Nearly as bad as getting us airgunners to agree which caliber is best, .177 or .22
Anyhoo, 99 percent of my small game air rifles are .22, and my KT has the Henschel turret...
But I also own a .177 HW77k SE...
As they say, takes all sorts me old struddle

Re: Porsche vs Henschel King Tiger
Porsche should have stuck to designing cars... His Tiger 1 was an ugly useless heap, and his KT turret a crew killer...but the Beetle and the 911 Carrera, hmmm..

Here's a conversation stopper, My daughter's first car was a "Lada 1200",
Well at least the heater was a goodun.
She sold it to a film company and it became part of the demolition derby in a "Bond" film.
Shaun.
