I've been busy... VK4502 Henschel

Post by Ad Lav »

Managed to get some time painting today.

Finished the engine hatches, filled the holes and added some details yesterday.

Hi Adam,

Looking great! Please keep the thread going.

Question: from whence comes the gun mantlet? Very, very nice.

Cheers,

Ralph

Thanks Ralph.

The mantlet is an enlarged king tiger one - this will have a 128mm gun. It was made roughly to similar size of a jagdtiger mantlet but the keeping the nice shape of the king tiger.

The original prototypes ran Porsche turrets and Elefant suspension. Mine will have henschel turret and suspension.

It all works, just need to put it all together now.

It'll be a rare model of a very rare tank...probably unique?

Hello incredible model. Is this all scratch built or did it come from a set of drawings you used to design the hull etc ... Its really an awesome piece. I see the mantlet is a customized piece. Thank you
Tanks alot....

Chassis, wheels, tracks and suspension from a Tamiya King tiger.

VK from Ludwigs - cnc flat pack kit.

Turret and electrics Tamiya King tiger.

The rest is heavily modified to fit :D

True for all of Ferdinand Porsche's efforts, magman. Clearly all of the appreciation for aesthetics went to his son Ferry instead.

Either way, it's certainly something special special, Adam. How have you found working with Chris' kits?
