wibblywobbly wrote:The site hasn't been used for a few years, and has become overgrown again. There has been talk of a site visit this year when the sunshine returns to see if it can be recovered. It is a large area, about 50m x 70m. Weeds are the biggest problem as it was scrubland when we were given it. It's a shame as it had the potential to be something unique in the UK.
A bit like the Panzergruppe Tarraco Panzerdrom by Jussek and his friends?

It would be a great place to visit if we could get it going again Richard, people could make a weekend of it as it's situated on the campsite, it's only a couple of miles from Barry island as well so anyone wanting to visit with family would have other attractions to visit also

I don't think there's static caravans Mick but you may be able to roll up with a tourer or camper

Hi Guys, New to the Tank Battle scene. There appears to be a gap in the times on this site. Is there anything happening at SWAG?

Start reading from wibblywobbly's recent post. He was involved in the original work and now lives in Wales

Hi Happy Jakes campsite was part of RAF St Athan at one time if you take a look at sat photo you can see the dispersal areas https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.42012 ... a=!3m1!1e3
It will be where Aston Martin build there cars.

Wibbly would the site be any good for rock crawlers

regards pete

PS I was stationed there in 1976 last hot summer working on Buccaneers
