Re: Whats your favourite german tank?
I'd say the Sturer Emil... Always loved the look with the early interleaved wheels and big gun. Kind of partial to the assault guns and tank destroyers
Tanks alot....
Re: Whats your favourite german tank?
Visually I think German variants I would say elegance is Panther and as mentioned- the Tiger I has that heavy fortress like look
and the King Tiger is the elegant beast.

King tiger! This tank might have the unique distinction, of putting itself out of action far more often then enemy action. For a very complex tank, made so late in the war the Kt was a remarkable achievement. The Germans stopped production on the tiger to concentrate on the KT and it took a herculean effort to make the ones they did - bur only 450 produced, less then half of which ever saw battle. But the KT was so powerful only the most experienced crews - the "experten" were chosen and there was no shortage of volunteers for this wunder-waffen either! This tank was clearly a weapon of great potential and no effort or expense was spared to get it to the front. Whenever it appeared, the King Tiger usually took a huge toll on allied armor. And the main gun on shernans and t-34s, usually had little or no effect against it. (Tank historians found there were -NO- instances where the frontal armor on a KT was ever penetrated by enemy gunfire).
But the KT was under powered (it used the same engine as the Panther, a much lighter tank) and had no time to have the bugs worked out - they were rushed to the front immediately they were available. Break downs were not only common, but expected by its crews. And more KTs were lost to breakdowns then enemy fire. But any allied armor crews who had the misfortune to meet one, were probably going to be in for a very bad time, indeed.

I was thinking that by not seeing where the majority of the votes are, members may be inclined to widen their choice of tank and not be influenced..........Alas, maybe not such a popular idea as i had hoped.Son of a gun-ner wrote:
Why would it need to be secret? Are you embarrassed by your choice. . . . . ?
But, I still stick with my choice, the Ferdinand.

If the OP edits the first post in the topic, I think it is possible to create a poll. It would need the possible choices to be listed.
