Interesting bit of militaria. It'll be interesting to see if they get an offer good enough to sell it.

Years ago, I bought at auction a box of Authenticast cast armour models that were made in New York by the Comet company. There were 3 or 4 Japanese tanks, a couple of Crusaders, and two of these Matildas. I kept the better Matilda and have sold the rest over the years. They're pretty crude, and were supposedly made for the US military for training. Scale is around 1:108. The markings on the bottom say "Comet NY" and "UK INFANTRY TANK MKIIA". After the war, the company continued marketing the armour, planes and ships they were still producing.

Definitely not worth $2K, but the world of militaria is pretty crazy these days.

I have some of the authenticast ships. They make for an interesting piece, and it's somewhat immersive to think of wargaming with the same models used in some cases for training exercises. Agreed that some are very primitive, but yeah... the price is quite high. I've seen Japanese tank identification models go for much less, and those aren't exactly common. This is, however, admittedly the first time I've seen one in wood.

Yeah I'm getting back into it after a break.(or maybe RC burnout) As for current projects I snagged one of the all metal Pz4 hulls from Forgebear, trying to find a decent Stug4 conversion kit. I'm afraid ID models are a smidge rich for me. So many go for silly money
