WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
And there ya have it folks.
A project that was part of the recent estate sales which I took pity(and price) on to see what can be done.
It was a very creative model that was actually based on a Tamiya King Tiger, but sadly that KT is little more than a jigsaw puzzle with most pieces missing.
In the detritus was a shortened Panther chassis with KT bits grafted onto it, no upper, no rear plate............
I thought well why not try to blend the V1 launcher unit to this poor thing & see how it goes
As its not based on a real thing, who cares if its not accurate, as it simply cant be !!
The bloke that passed was a bit of a 1946/what if builder, so there are a few bits that fit that genre. He was very creative.
I also got a Panther based Radar Guidance/APC custom build that was pretty neglected. I have already restored it to life & repaired & improved the outside details.
Both are a bit of fun & certainly turn heads at model shows just by being oddities.
The launcher is a mostly scratch built unit with left over LFH Cannon mounts & bits of all sorts to get it together.
The mounts are smashed, & the elevation pivots also, but I should be able to restore it to mount the V1 back on top.
Only has to rotate & go up/down a bit so no complex control functions required.
Trying to use an old Tamy control unit that was ripped out of my KT years ago to just get this running. Dont want to spend anything on a H/L V7.1s if this will do.

I don't remember seeing that one on Hobby Havoc. It is, indeed, a quintessential work of a late correspondent. Keep us informed.

Gradual improvements.
The mount is cobbled back together & all primed to tie it in.
I might go for a partial green base with a splinter pattern cam over that.

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
The V1 is going to get a make over too. Cant have my 'Doodle' looking out of sorts!
A quick tour thru the Google world confirmed that the V1 was treated as ordinance rather than an aircraft so no national insignia were painted on.
A bit like a piece of ammunition.
I have sealed the seams on it & once dry I can sand them off & look for paint.
As I'm no air-modeler the thought of doing a suitable mottled black-green over sky blue is a bit daunting.

Bix, given the proximity of the rocket engine, might this fellow find the job a bit, unh, hot?

Re: WHAT-IF PANTHER BASED V1 LAUNCHER
As I recall, the pulsejet doesn't make "fire" until it has air running in the intake. I thought there was a steam powered catapult to drive it up the ramp to a speed where the pulsejet was able to power the craft North East.
Not that steam burns are much better than fire burns....
