I know nothing about Sherman’s let alone Tamiya ones, so I can assume your doing a smashing job!!
I have seen mods using heng long elevation units to replace the Tamiya ones, I did it on my King Tiger, might be worth investigating?

yes I have on another Forum (BTN) found a system with Tam mechanical recoil. But too complicated to set up, in the very restricted space of the Sherman turret, or to have nimble fingers
Already there, several transformations, adaptations, necessary, to get there, with a modest tool
