Seeing it all in one colour makes the extra surface detail with the welds and appliqué armour really pop. I'm keen to see how you tackle the whitewash camo, it'll make "Stalin's refrigerator" temperature-appropriate! You're going to need a few comrades rugged up in their winter woolies too, I'd say. ;)

I’d say you are right on the Rouble mate !!
A couple of suitable Comrades that are in place taking her into action later that day of the picture would be rather appropriate! ;)

As for getting the right look of the white wash, I am taking a patient approach to it.
There is an old saying a good trademan never blames his tools, but if I try to get the right outcome by using the wrong tools(in this case finishing products) I will get the wrong result.
I am going to rely on the hairspray method to get the look of the limited white wash in specific areas, so the rest of the tank will be masked off from it. The stuff is available from BNA down here so I will take the time to get what I need and use it to try & get the best result.
No "rush-to-fail" mentality at least with the right products.
if nothing else, the you-tube videos are helpful to inform me of what products are actually out there, and how to best use them, the rest is on me.
My ole White-Tiger was ok then, but looking back its quite beginner-ish. But thats ok, I was a beginner!
Now I want to try to lift my level and I will get good materials to help that where possible.

Good day today with prep for hairspray going on late last night, and this morning to the scene of actual rain outside(yep, its been a while) out with the Hair drier and on with the hairspray.
Gave it a bit of time to cure, then on with the first layer of very thinned XF-2 White.
I applied it in a way that I could perhaps imagine a 16th scale crewman might do in a scale situation !!
A lot of area to cover :eh:
I can do the massive(50mm/2 inch high) numbers next, but only until the next stock of paint arrives can I finish the white area off properly.

Getting along with it now...............
I still want to use the washable white wash product to further improve the white, but so far-so good.
The lower has had a lot of pigment and mud texture onto it, but I will also add snow in the appropriate areas.
More pigment and mud to place along the exposed track runs, guards and the rear section, so plenty to do on it yet.

Coming along! try some Deck Tan from Tamiya in your white, it knocks off the brightness a bit. The Magic Grime will help with that also.

Thanks for the tip Mr Newboy. The white completion is on hold for now until the washable stuff arrives. I did do a test spot of grime to see how it behaved, & it was a bit grey looking for me at the time. But, that will be due to the single thin layer of white where I applied it.
Once the washable stuff goes on the grime should bring it together again I reckon.

Pigment on tracks & lower running gear. Makes a good base for further texture of mud & slush from well worn trails that crushes the snow & makes a mess.
Diluted PVA glue & an old brush................dip-spread-apply-repeat.
I have some snow products on the way so they should add context to the bleak outlook of this iconic machine.

getting closer now.

I'm amazed by how you have so much patience to spend so much time on the finish of a model.
Something I'm not very good at, I just start new stuff all the time without finishing the rest :shh:

Cheers Mr Risky...........got to finish a model, well I cant start another one until one is so far finished its not worth commenting on.
Unless Im waiting for parts & want a fill-in to pass the time, but other than that, finish it!
