PANTHER 111, 116TH WINDHUND Dv, HOUFFALIZE 1944
Well its time for a new build.
Have been gathering parts for a lot of projects before carrying on & this one has almost all the bits required.
The Wife & I were fortunate to be able to visit Houfalize in 2009 & had a good ole walk over, touch, smell & taste(yeah that was me) of the famous Houfalize Panther.
You will all know that the poor thing has now gone to be restored to an accurate static condition. When I saw it, it was a target for graffiti & neglect. I've been following its restoration progress with interest. One day, when someone invents international travel again ( ) I might get to see it ............
I've had an H/L Panther G for a while now, its a 6.0 version.
Plan to turn it into the early G '111' from the morning before it was blown into the river, killing the crew.
There is still some mystery surrounding the tanks deceased crew, where are they buried, who exactly were they, and of more concern......were their remains still inside the tank when it was recovered in 1947/8 ?
For a fairly well known surviving Panther, there is still much left unanswered in its story, and a few minor quirky features on it that others dont have.
There is also some info from a one time child that grew up in Houfalize(pictured on the wreck) that has added more layers of info to the machines story.
Thats why I wanted to build it.
I'm off to take the tank apart.................

Thanks Mr Lav, “just another Panther” it nay be, but with the current restoration going on, and the many mystery circumstances over its final moments, and that of its crew, there is a lot to learn & unpack on this subject tank.Ad Lav wrote:Nice project Herman.

Herman,
Another lovely Panther! I'm sure you'll pull this off nicely, and your research shall make this very interesting indeed. I'll be watching along with great interest!
Cheers,
Eric.
