Panzer I

Post by silversurfer1947 »

The Panzer I was fitted with a Krupp M 305 four-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine of 59 horsepower. I am wondering if amongst the huge range of knowledge out there, someone can suggest a sound board with a suitable engine, bearing in mind that there is not much room in the tank . I was thinking about using something for a small scale tank, such as those produced by http://35rctank.com/ However, I am open to suggestions.

It won't help with the soundboard, Richard, but the dedication, detail, and enthusiasm that went into building this working replica will help with the build momentum, perhaps :D

Thank you. I think that might have been easier than what I am attempting. There are times when, for some inexplicable reason, I take on challenges that are way beyond my abilities. This time it is a Takom Panzer I kit. Before starting, I am trying to acquire all the extras that I shall need, including, I think, some bits from Christian Ludwig. I can already see some problems, e.g. trying to fit fibre optics to the machine guns.

One easy solution is to buy a Tamiya MG from Axel. It's easy to fit fibre in one, and to bond the unit in place- as you'll recall from your own Tamiya projects.
I have some spare fibre if you need it. The MG bags aren't expensive, but I couldn't see one in stock just now. UK suppliers ought to be able to order one, though.

I know all about rueing challenges. :/ My problem is, taking several on at the same time ;)

I had had a look at various ready assembled machine guns but they were all MG 34s. The Panzer I was equipped with MG13s which had a different profile. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img ... 61-720.jpg
I will have another look though.
You can now get a converted MG34 from Aber at a price https://www.rctank.de/media/image/produ ... gh-end.jpg

Off at a slight tangent. Does anyone know what has happened with Tank modellbau? Everything is still listed but comes up saying there is a minimum order value of 5,800 euros! https://tank-modellbau.de/eng_83/Tiger- ... -with-amor

SS1947,
Good morning! I went through this trying to purchase parts from Tank Modelbau back in May\June and it is because of the Shipping Issues to the States ( that was what he told me when I asked why I had to buy some 6000 euros worth of stuff to get shipping ) Fortunately, Dave and Julie \ Forgebear saved the Day ( as they always seem to do ) by ordering from the sites in Germany and allowing me to pay them and have the parts shipped here to the States from England. A tip of the Fedora to Forgebear!
regards,
Painless

Is that Aber product drilled to accept fibre, then, Richard? I have a 2-piece one from Aber that's purely decorative, and can't be adapted to emit light. :)

Yes, it is a modified Aber unit, specifically drilled for fibre optic. I think done by Tank Modellbau as it is listed cheaper there, but you can't purchase! It is expensive, but then the normal Aber unit isn't cheap
